Introducing Karena and Family Systemic Constellation Work

Updated: Aug 2, 2023

Family / Systemic Constellation Work was first introduced to the world in it's unique form by Bert Hellinger. Hellinger developed this method of working with hidden dynamics, unconscious loyalties, inherited trauma and entangled patterns of relating following his wide training, work and learning with many people in both Germany and South Africa after WW11.

In the phrase 'Family Systemic Constellation', the word 'constellation' refers to a pattern of people or events in relation to one another (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In looking at a family constellation we are looking at a changing pattern of people, events and ways of relating to one another. In a family we all have our place of belonging and sometimes when this is disrupted, hindered, blocked or entangled. We may feel lost, stuck in an uncomfortable place, or unable to relate well in our families. This can occur within and across generations and with many natural and societal influences or events on our lives. Family constellations help us to see things more clearly, and when we see more clearly we may understand better, find our rightful place allowing us to live well.

Family / Systemic Constellation Work is a compassionate and insightful way to look at our relationship patterns, family loyalties and events across generations that have had an effect on our lives, often without us knowing or understanding this effect is occurring. Sometimes we may be carrying something from the past that is affecting how we live now. It may feel difficult to be present to our selves and others, to move forward in our life, our relationships, our work. Despite our best efforts we may not feel free to reach our potential in life; something is stuck, confusing, or remains unresolved. Family / Systemic Constellation Work brings to light what needs to be seen for resolution, reconciliation, healing and peace to come to ourselves and our families.

I have taken part in this work since 2003. I was introduced to the work when my husband Robert and I attended facilitator peer training and did our own constellations to help us move forward, following a confusing family situation that was impacting our lives. We continued to participate for several sessions over many years. Since then, I have followed my heart to immerse myself in learning more about Family / Systemic Constellation Work and to offer workshops to others. Over many years, I attended workshops with both Australian and International Facilitators; all experienced and accomplished in this work that requires knowledge, humility and a certain restraint. The facilitator and participants share in the work together. An attitude of serving one another is an apt description for this work that creates caring connection.

This work is a journey of compassion, heals hearts, asks us to be humbly human and present to one another. Many of us also feel a connection to a Greater HeartMind, Greater Soul, God, Universal Mind (humans have many words for 'God') that seeks for peace and wellbeing, aliveness and relationship. In a Family / Systemic Constellation Workshop we are moved with Love toward awareness, wholeness , resolution and reconciliation, so that we may live well. In Family / Systemic Constellation Work we can gain greater clarity for what is, and we are then able to move forward into our future life with dignity and confidence.

I welcome you to join me to experience a workshop as a seeker and /or participant to compassionately hold the circle for others. When we serve one another we all are touched and moved by life within and without. I facilitate with gentleness, sensitivity and attunement. We can discover more about the systemic influences on our lives and explore life with greater freedom. We may understand the roots of illnesses or dissatisfaction, anxieties or depressions, what is holding us back and what we need to let go of in order to move forward.
